THE COMPLIMENTS OF THE SEASON TO OUR NEIGHBOURS AND FRIENDS AND THE BEST OF WISHES FOR 2022
Despite temporary disruptions, it has been confirmed that Collection of gray bins will continue.
A Board Meeting was held on the 1st December at No 19 under the new Chaipersonship of George Browning.
It was agreed that Gail Bones would be the liaison with GCC, a summer social event would be held on the second Sunday in June, and that the next Board Meeting would be held in No 17 on the 9th February. A commercial company would be engaged to remove Christmas trees from the east end of the Lane, provided they are there by the 17 January. It was also reported that, after multiple representations to Waitrose, that their vans were no longer being parked in the Terrace – A RESULT!

NEW: An historical account of the Terrace – by Brian Logan – has been added to the “Our Terrace” menu; it is hoped to add his account of the architect Rochead.
Gail Bones, who has moved into No.17, has elicited useful information from GCC regarding refuse collection. Full details are on:
If you are unable to bring your bin out to the lane please make it visible by opening your access door early Friday morning to ensure collection

Consequently, permits valid between 24 March 2020 and 23 March 2021 have been granted a 3 month extension [INFO ON HOW TO APPLY FOR/RENEW PERMITS CAN BE FOUND UNDER THE “INFO/CONTACTS” MENU or at http://www.glasgow.gov.uk/parkingzonepermits%5D.
HOW DOES YOUR GARDEN GROW?
Silver Bells? Cockle shells? Send me a photo or let me come to take a snap to put on the website. t.w firstname.lastname@example.org. You can see over 50 great photos already there under the ‘Our Terrace’ menu.
The Highlights from the archived Minutes for the period 1992-2006 have now been added; go to ‘ARCHIVES’ and download. The handwritten (in ink) record of all the Minutes from 1854 are there for downloading; why not have a look – hugely informative and interesting!
LIGHTING in the TERRACE:
You will have noticed that the Lanterns in the terrace have not been working properly. David Jeffries is on the case and has finally managed to get the GCC to get things sorted; Thanks David.
FACEBOOK GROUP NOW LIVE! : The Facebook Page – “Residents and Friends of Kew Terrace” – is now live! The address is https://www.facebook.com/groups/kewterrace. Please encourage neighbours to use it. The new facebook mistress is Laura Johnston at No 8
GOOD NEWS : GOOD NEWS!! : As far as we can determine – notwithstanding recent letters – the collection of green bins will continue every Friday and blue bins every fortnight. If in doubt, go to http://www.gla.gov.uk/article/21757/BinsReplacement/Programme. The recently arrived shiny green bins can replace your old plastic or metal bins, both of which can be taken to Dawes Holm. Julianna and Nancy are checking the protocols regarding whether you or the GCC take the bins out to the lane; watch this space! UPDATE: the obligation of the refuse collectors is still to come in to the back gardens and take the green bins out.
INFO on PARKING !! Good news! Seems that, if you have a Dowanhill permit, you can park anywhere within the “W3” area (eg Partick, etc). Just check that you see W3 on the parking signs.
A number of owners insure the fabric of their homes using the services of the Roxburgh Group. The Group claims that the premiums are very competitive and that, where there are multiple owners in each ‘house’, claims are more readily settled. Quotes from Janet McKay (email@example.com).
NOW, – yes right now – YOU CAN GIVE YOUR BOARD MEMBERS AND NEIGHBOURS YOUR VIEWS. Just go to the “Feedback” menu at the top, and have your say using WORD.
ALERT : Glasgow City Council does NOT issue reminders for the renewal of Parking Permits. SO…if you first took out your permit(s) around 1 year ago, and wish to avoid a ticket, fill in the application form for a new annual permit. You can see how to do this in the “Parking” section of Info/Contacts on this website. It is understood that we are part of the W3 area so there is a reciprocal arrangement in adjacent W3 areas (eg Partick); check the signs at meters for the magic W3). [There is a 3 month discount; check the ‘NEWS’ menu]
